La Chispa Casa Cultural and its café, El Arrebato are educational community spaces designed for peace-building with political, social and enviornmental justice. Activities in the cultural center are focused on the following three transversal lines of work: Art for Social Transformation, The Rural-Urban relationship in Colombia and Agroecology, and Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Our Art for Social Change program focuses on how art and culture affect the mind, body, and soul of the individual and the collective, as well as their power to transform the society as a whole.
Our Rural-Urban Relationship and Agroecology program focuses on urban farming, El Arrebato store and farm to table cafe, Food Rescue (Ciudades Sin Hambre), Seed banks, and analysis of the City-Rural relationship in Colombia.
Our Peace and Conflict Resolution program works to promote an open and safe space for debate and dialogue around political issues, to encourage active participation in democratic processes. Our primary interests are historic and collective memory, models of development in Colombia and the rest of the world, international geopolitics, human and environmental rights, social justice and intersecting systems of oppression, the armed, social and economical Colombian conflicts and their resistance movements, the negotiations and subsequent accords between the Colombian government and the guerrillas and the grassroots construction of democracy for the people and by the people.
