La Chispa is accepting applications for the session between August and November 2023.

Our program is flexible for individuals working and researching within our cross-cutting areas of work: Art for Social Transformation, Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Rural-City Relationship and Agroecology. We are a diverse community of artists, educators and activists, and we are excited about this opportunity for cultural exchange and thoughtful creation.
We will accept one to four artists in residence to join our community each month. While we do not set specific requirements for cultural exchange, we are looking for individuals interested in participating in our community during their residency. This may be different for each individual, but in general terms may include activities such as collaborating in our garden, sharing in meals, or presenting the project’s progress with the immediate community or the general public. La Chispa is part of multiple platforms in the city, and our artists in residence will have access to a wide network of individuals and organizations linked to our areas of work.
Our headquarters are located in the historic center of the city of Medellín, Colombia. The property is a site of cultural and heritage interest due to its architecture, which also includes a large urban orchard, indoor and outdoor spaces, a professional ballroom and rooms for work, contemplation and creation.
During their stay, the artist in residence will have access to a shared and fully equipped kitchen to cook for themselves. Likewise, the café El Arrebato will provide the resident with lunches from Monday to Friday. Each resident will also have a private room, access to the Foundation’s shared facilities and collaborative work spaces.
Our AeR program will cost $1,200 USD per month. This includes all food, lodging and workspace expenses. The resident, however, should consider that the specific materials required for their creative process, as well as the return of the resulting works to the country of origin, are additional expenses and are not included in the program costs.
